One more thing....

You can register for classes at Michaels online.  Michaels classes

You'll go to Michaels.com, click on Classes (or click on the link above).  You'll click on any class, doesn't matter which one, click book your class, then put in your zip code or the zip code of where you'd like to take a class.  Choose the location you're interested in and you'll get a listing of all of the classes that location offers. (The Avon zip code is 46123)

When you register online, you'll receive a confirmation email.  Open the attachment, that will have your syllabus with the materials that you'll need.  I believe that's also what you show at the register to receive your discount on supplies.

IF you plan to take a class that I teach and want to register right before the class, PLEASE let me know.  I only go to the store if I KNOW I have someone registered.  I usually call 1-2 hours before to see if there's been a late registration. If they say no, then I don't go in.

Remember you can email me at UntangledStitcher@gmail.com.  If I've given you my card, feel free to call or text me also.

Second, I have updated my class calendar through the end of June.  It now has some new classes including Arm Knitting ($10.00 class), Ruffle Scarves and many of the 9 new projects that the Craft Yarn Council (the organization I'm certified through) has added.  These will rotate seasonally so check back often to see what's new.

Knit and crochet 1 & 2 will remain in the rotation.

Remember that I'm now offering a $5.00 Yarn Night the 3rd Saturday of each month at the Avon Michaels.  This is planned as a 2 hour session (from 4-6 pm) in which students can bring in their projects and receive assistance or just show off what they're working on.  I will not provide handouts or patterns, like I do in the regular classes.  So far no one has attended the 2 that I've had.  If there's no interest, this may end.

Also, I offer Kids Crochet classes the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Saturday of each month from 2-3:30.  These classes are $15.00 each.

Click on the calendar to the right for details about each class.  For pictures, click above on Michaels @ Avon - Class Schedule & Projects.

I continue my Free knit/crochet group the 1st Saturday of each month at the College Avenue Branch Library.  Click on the calendar or the College Ave Stitchers tab above for more information.

Again, thank you all and I hope to knit and or crochet with you soon!

There's a WHOLE LOT of Arm Knitting going on!

Just some of the fun today at the Michaels FREE Arm Knitting Social Event.  Everyone who attempted finished their very own scarf/cowl/infinity scarf.  Some stopped by and asked questions but didn't knit with us today.  One person even videotaped me so when she sends me what she recorded, I'll post it.
We were able to see how the scarves look using different types of yarn.

This will be a NEW class at Michaels.  It will last an hour and only cost $10.

I have homework that I absolutely positively HAVE to complete tonight so the plan is to have my class schedules updated tomorrow.

Thanks everyone who stopped by today!

And I'm VERY thankful to work at a Michaels with great managers and staff who support not only me but each other and who also respect their customers!

Arm Knitting Fun!

My table set-up

This is a student from the FREE library class I teach. She's also been to a class at Michaels.  I truly appreciate her support and friendship!

AAHC members and now arm knitters!

My daughter flew in from Dallas to support me and even helped teach others, after she learned herself.
Just some of the scarves that were made!

Who knew Arm Knitting could be so much fun?!  I've heard others complain that it's not "real knitting" or it's for "lazy people" and even that it's a waste of time. But I see it as a way to introduce people to creating something, and in a short amount of time. If they decide to learn other techniques or even other crafts, then great!

Last night I had the opportunity to teach arm knitting at an event sponsored by the African American History Committee (AAHC) of the Indianapolis Public Library.  As part of their Meet the Artists XXVI (of which I am one of the featured artists) they hosted a First Friday Meet & Greet.  The artists were asked to demonstrate their skill.  I chose to teach people how to Arm Knit.  I provided the yarn and taught for FREE.
It was soooo much fun!  Yes, many of us were tangled up in our yarn, yes, some were frustrated at first, but we all laughed, had a good time and everyone who tried it walked away with an infinity scarf that they made themselves!  During this 3 hour event, 10 scarves were made!  We were watched and photographed by many.  Questions were asked, my business cards were also popular, so who knows what future opportunities may open up.
The best part, is some who were very hesitant at first, ended up helping others!  That's one of the things that I love about teaching anything, that I'm able to instill confidence in the person who is learning.  When the student becomes the teacher, I've done my job well!
